Cello by Francesco Ruggeri, Cremona, ca 1690. A fine example of the makers work from this period. The scroll is of Italian origin, but from a later date. It is made with beautiful poplar back and sides, and native Italian pine for the table. This cello has a deep, rich, and powerful tone. CM# 4942

Cello by Vincenzo Postiglione, Naples, 1877. This is a very fine example of the maker's work from his 46th year. Full of original varnish with highly flamed maple back and sides. The tone is rich and powerful, with a wonderful palette of colors. Certificate by Warren & Sons. CM#4988

Cello by Benjamin Patocka, 1874. This is an excellent 19th century Czech cello. It has a big tone and is in fine condition with beautiful wood and varnish. It is very reasonably priced for a student or for a young professional. CM#4921

SOLD:Cello labeled Raffaele Trapani, Hungary, ca 1880. A Stradivari model, it is in excellent condition with full original varnish. It possesses a rich and dark tone with an excellent bass that will cut through an orchestra. CM#4798

SOLD: Cello by Justin Derazy, Mirecourt, 1876.  This cello is an unusually fine example of the maker’s work, with nicely figured wood and a soft, orange-brown varnish, which is in contrast to the later instruments that have a much harder and more commercial finish. The sound of this cello is rich and powerful in tone, and is in a wonderful state of preservation. CM# 4915

SOLD: Cello by William Forster Senior, London, ca 1770. This beautiful cello is a lovely example of the maker’s work from this period. Full of original varnish, lightly flamed back, sides and scroll. The tone is unusually powerful and clear, with warmth and a broad palette of colors from which to choose.  Certificate by Charles Beare. CM # 4724 

SOLD: Cello from the workshop of Maurice Mermillot, Paris, ca 1880. This is a very fine example of the Stradivari model made for Couesnon. It has a truly rich and powerful tone. The scroll, front, back and sides are highly flamed. The scroll is very masculine. Mermillot was a student of Gaillard and of J.B. Vuillaume. He also worked for Guadagnini at Turin. CM#4826

SOLD: Rare Cremonese Cello. Previously available from Charles Magby is a remarkably rare Cremonese cello with a magnificent history and provenance.  Specific details are available to a serious client after an initial telephone consultation. 

SOLD: Cello by Paolo Antonio Testore, Milan, ca 1740. Length is 76.5cm. This large instrument is slab cut with a willow back and sides. The scroll is of pear wood. It evidences typical wide spruce pine grain. Certificate by William Moennig & Sons. The condition is very good with very few cracks. It has a very powerful tone. An orchestral player or cellist in a professional quartet would find this cello irresistible. Certificate: Wm. Moennig & Son. It has a surprisingly affordable price. CM#4784

SOLD: Cello by Sebastien Vuillaume, Paris France, 1865. This fine cello has a certificate from Hans Weisshaar. The instrument is a supreme example of the maker's work of the period and is in first-rate condition. The cello's tone is commanding and rich. The lower two strings have true authority and depth. The back, sides and scroll possess a dazzling flamed maple. CM#4746

SOLD: Cello by Lorenzo Ventpane, Naples Italy, ca 1820. This is a characteristic example of the maker's work of the period. It possesses a full, rich sound (lacking the "nasal-ness" somewhat common to this maker). The back and sides are of slab cut maple. It possesses a rich, golden-orange varnish. CM#4764

SOLD: Cello from the workshop of Heinrich Theodor Heberleine Jr., Markneukirchen Germany, 1897.  This Guarneri model is an admirable student-quality instrument. CM#4725
